I think you can more easily get the casserole consistently heated through in the oven than on the hob - without any sticking of the meat on the bottom of the pan. But wouldn't it be more energy-saving to bring the casserole to bubbling heat on the hob rather than heating up the oven (before putting it in the haybox)?
